Without doubt, the current hottest golfing destination is Turkey and it’s easy to see why.

There are flights into Antalya from most UK airports and, from there, it’s a short transfer to the Belek region where nine courses and some of the best quality hotels for golfers await.

Accessibility, great courses and top-quality accommodation are part of the attraction for visitors but the overriding reason for playing golf there is the outstanding value for money that is on offer due to the all-inclusive packages that are available.

The Sirene Hotel, pictured below, is a stunning property with two golf courses on site. All of the 440 rooms offer five-star quality fixtures and fittings and the resort has several restaurants and bars for the evening entertainment. There are also numerous outdoor activities available and the two golf courses – the Pasha and the Sultan – are well worth playing.

The Gloria resort has two 18-hole courses and a nine-hole course. The New Course has hosted several international tournaments, including the World Amateur Team Championships, whilst the Old Course is set in some of the most stunning scenery in the region. The hotel has 515 rooms and a host of facilities to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. It even has its own private beach.

• Could Cambodia become golf’s next big destination?

The Cornelia Diamond is one of the most popular Hotels in Belek and its Faldo course is widely recognised as one of the best in the area. There’s no need to leave the hotel in the evening as it offers nine different restaurants, numerous bars and its own nightclub. There are also a host of other activities available for guests to make their stay a memorable experience.

The Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort is a top-of-the-range five-star hotel providing world-class service and facilities. It offers luxury accommodation and excellent golf on its Carya Golf Club and the National golf course, both of which are on-site.

There is a well-equipped spa and numerous sporting activities are available and for the evening there are several different restaurants and bars for the less energetic.

The temperatures from March to November are great for golf but bear in mind it can get very warm in July and August.

Flights to Antalya are readily available from all the major UK and Irish airports with prices starting from around £180 return for a seven-day break.

Word of advice: it’s vitally important to book your trip to Turkey as early as possible. There’s pressure on tee times since there are not that many courses to play on. The most popular tee times go very early so, once you have decided to go, don’t hesitate to make the booking otherwise you will be playing either very early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
