The Torrance, designed by Ryder Cup and Scottish golfing legend Sam Torrance, is the senior of the two courses and has been used to stage numerous high-profile events down the years, including the Scottish Senior Open for six consecutive years from 2009 to 2014.
The Kittocks, meanwhile, was designed by Bruce Devlin – famed for laying out the King’s Course at Gleneagles among others – and is no less of a test. With many challenging holes hugging the coastline with panoramic views, it is argubaly the prettier of the two courses.
Its coastal location, overlooking St Andrews Bay and delivering
sumptuous views across the North Sea as well as back towards the town,
means that both courses drain well, with hardly any day ever lost to the
elements. For that reason, it is a great option for continuing to play
golf right through the colder, wetter months on full greens, tees and no
mats.

Great value winter memberships are available, whilst the Fairmont St
Andrews Troon Trophy, an accumulative Stableford competition that runs
from October to March, provides competitive golf to keep your game in
peak condition.
