Designed by acclaimed Scottish golf course architect Graeme Webster, the nine-hole West Water golf course at Edzell opened in 2001 and has cemented itself as a terrific complement to the 18-hole 'Old' course.
A par-32 track, located in the picturesque town of Edzell, almost halfway between Dundee and Aberdeen, it is predominantly flat with tree-lined fairways, so the emphasis is firmly on accuracy and keeping the ball in play.
The seventh and eighth holes, which border, the West Water from which the course takes its name, are particularly memorable.
If you're looking for somewhere fun to get a quick nine-hole fix and you're in the area, you can't go wrong.
