Nestled between the boroughs of Bearsden and Auchenhowie, it's hard to imagine you're just five miles from Glasgow city centre when knocking around this picturesque parkland.

At just shy of 6,000 yards, Douglas Park is by no means the longest course, but the emphasis here is on good course management, with a number of tight holes waiting to test your accuracy and frequent elevation changes to sustain interest.

The original nine holes were laid out in 1897 by Willie Fernie - who had won the Open Championship just four years before - and the course extended to 18 in the coming years.

There are plenty of wonderful features to look out for at Douglas Park, including the Manse Burn which weaves its way through the course, the railway line which comes into play on several holes, and the ancient Antonine Wall, which was built by the Romans in 142 AD.
