Located around 10 miles south of St Andrews, Leven Links is a sublime layout with rolling fairways, many of which are ancient sand dunes, fast putting surfaces, burns, and pot bunkers. Leven Links is a course steeped in history. The first nine holes were originally laid out in 1846, making this venue one of the oldest that has ever been played on. And in 1968, Old Tom Morris extended the course to a full 18-hole layout, which has kept its distinctive features to this day.
The fact that this 6,551 yard par-71 has been utilised six times in Open qualifying tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the layout. It is a true links test from start to finish, with golfers tasked with negotiating the natural slopes created by the old dunes, while the wind makes the course even more challenging.
