The Strathtyrum, under the ownership and guidance of the St Andrews Links Trust, opened for play in 1993 along with the newly redeveloped and smaller Balgove course.

At the time it was the first new 18-hole layout in St Andrews for 80 years, and took its name from the adjacent Strathtyrum Estate from which the land was purchased.

A Donald Steel design, it requires skill and patience, just like any other good links golf course. It lies primarily on an east to west axis with the result that the prevailing westerly winds can play havoc when judging distance.

The perfect preparation before you take on its more famous siblings.
