Address: Askernish, South Uist HS8 5SY

Hailed as the 'most natural links course in the world,' Askernish is truly unique. Located on the island of South Uist, Askernish was originally an Old Tom Morris design from 1891.

During wartime, the course went through several different iterations, but eventually found its way back to a layout that closely resembles Old Tom's original vision.

Although the course might not feature the same manicured fairways as St Andrews, the views you'll encounter as well as the fun you'll have mean this is a truly joyful place to play golf.

No artificial chemicals are used to maintain this course, with farm animals keeping the grass in check over the winter months.

The seventh hole in particular is stunning. The Atlantic Ocean comes into view and although it shouldn't be in play, certainly keeps you on your toes.

This is golf as it should be played.
