Carluke is a slightly hilly parkland course with views over the Clyde Valley.
There are some very tricky par threes to contend with, a number of which are guarded by bunkers, while new greens have been added to several holes, adding to what is already a fine course.
The 11th and 12th are two of the best holes you are ever likely to play in this region and are notorious with local golfers for ruining scorecards. The 11th drops 150 feet to a green surrounded by four bunkers before the following hole knocks up to an elevated green.
Without doubt, they deserve respect, but at least if things go wrong on the course, then the clubhouse will be waiting to offer you a warm welcome.
