Located within the grounds of Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride, Torrance House is a municipal parkland course that stretches out into the nearby countryside.
Unlike many other council-run courses, the 'municipal' status of this course in no way detracts from its quality or degree of difficulty.
The Torrance, in fact, is reckoned to be one of Scotland's best parkland courses and certainly one of the leading municipals.
It is a course where you should let your imagination run wild. There are tight tee shots, hard-to-reach greens and tricky par-3s where club selection is often a complete mystery, but great fun nonetheless.
The 18th is probably the finest example of this. A beautiful short hole, it plays downhill towards the clubhouse and 15th century Tower House. Hit the green, make a three and you'll walk off punching the air.
