Inverurie, a pleasant parkland built on the side of Davah Hill around half an hour inland from Aberdeen, truly is a golf course of two halves.
The opening nine, with its wide fairways and large greens, will lull you into a false sense of security as you reach the turn and find yourself faced with a back nine that features much narrower targets as the holes weave through the gorse and trees.
There's no water here, but those small targets and subtle borrows will add to the fun, while the tough closing stretch of holes has wrecked many a scorecard.
A wonderful challenge.
