• Fairways and rescues complete M2 metalwoods
• Fairway wood expected to fly off the shelves
• TaylorMade has also made its Rescues easier to hit
TaylorMade has backed up the launch of its new M2 driver with an impressive set of fairway woods and rescues that fall under the same family name.
Arguably, the fairway wood is the stand out performer in the whole M2 range. It’s an improvement on the AeroBurner fairway and those that have had the chance to play it know last year’s model absolutely rocketed off the face.
What makes the M2 fairway so impressive is that it actually has a ‘hotter’ face. How do we know that to be the case? During testing Justin Rose was hitting the fairway wood and he achieved a ball speed that was higher than what he got with his driver a few years ago. That’s an incredible leap in a short space of time.
The Speed Pocket has been a major driver behind the performance of its fairway woods ever since it was first put into its RocketBallz design and it returns in a new form in the M2.
Also found in the driver, the new Speed Pocket gives more flexibility lower in the face, increasing the amount of forgiveness on offer, especially on low face hits.
The carbon-composite crown is another feature that has transferred in to the fairway woods and the extra weight has been used to improve both the launch and distance.
One of the biggest changes in the design is the introduction of a new, fluted hosel that TaylorMade says has helped it improve both sound and feel without making any sacrifices on the distance front.
The improvement of sound and the aesthetics played a big role in the design of the M1 driver and that appears to have carried over into the M2 range.

Several brands have made the move to make their hybrids easier to hit in 2016 and that’s a big performance benefit with the M2 Rescue. Unsurprisingly the new Speed Pocket design features once again and it has helped to make this club more forgiving, giving more players the chance to take advantage of the distance on offer.
