Just a short-drive from Edinburgh this accessible parkland layout is complemented beautiful Midlothian scenery and is well worth a visit, even for those simply passing through Scotland's capital. Founded in 1975, Gogarburn Golf Coourse is unique in that it features just 12 holes.
It is not brutally difficult, allowing beginners and less experienced players to gain confidence on a shorter layout. But Gogarburn still offers an exciting and varied challenge that will test shot-making, with it's mix of short par-4s and lengthy par-3s. High-lipped bunkers protect the well-groomed fairways and greens throughout, making for a thoroughly enjoyable but testing round of golf. This is a fine choice of venue for those near the city centre desperate for a quick round, or a new place to hone your skills before advancing onto a longer 18-hole layout.
