Cochrane Castle in the Renfrewshire town of Johnstone, is where it all started for some Scottish notables such as Barclay Howard, Dean Robertson and John Caven.
As curtain openers come, the first is quite difficult, as a par three of around 156-yards to an elevated green, so make sure you've chose the right club.
The third is also a challenge at 440-yards, playing over a burn with out-of-bounds on the left, while the fifth is 470-yards long, partly uphill with a tight tee shot due to bunkers and a range trees on the left.
Cochrane's greens are known for their superb quality, generally being quite small, although they pack a punch and can be fiery. Dating back to the 1890s it's a historic course, but one in neat condition.
