Part of the luxurious Mar Hall Estate on the outskirts of Glasgow - a popular destination amongst the rich and famous - the Earl of Mar Golf Course is one of the more recent additions to Scotland's golfing portfolio.
The Dave Thomas-designed track opened in the summer of 2010 and has since established itself as one of the most popular places to play in west-central Scotland.
It is laid out in the shadow of the dramatic Erskine Bridge - indeed, the fourth tee is situated almost directly underneath it - and is routed in two loops of nine holes. The back nine is arguably the more memorable, occupying a more varied piece of terrain.
The holes down by the banks of the river are particularly memorable. A fun place to play and conveniently close to both the centre of Glasgow and the city's airport, the Earl of Mar course comes highly recommended.
