Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke hybrids review

If you struggle with the long irons, then hybrids can make your life easier. In particular, the new Callaway Ai Smoke hybrids are an absolute dream to hit. Very, very easy to get in the air.

Like the driver and fairway woods, Callaway’s new Paradym Ai Smoke hybrids feature the Ai Smart Face, which helps to keep any mishits on track. Here’s the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke hybrids review.

The First Look

Firstly, you’ll see the shaping is maybe not what you’d expect. What we have is a brand new shape from Callaway. It’s larger in profile which looks brilliant and a lot less intimidating than those longer irons. The matte crown finish looks brilliant, with the chevron marking the centre for alignment. Face wise, things are slightly different, with the HL having the lower profile in comparison to the Max, making it easier to launch.

The Tech

Just like what we have seen in the drivers and fairways we have the new Ai Smart Face which is going to deliver forgiveness across the whole face.

It’s going to give you more speed, forgiveness and tighter dispersion, especially on mishits so you’ll be closer to the flag. The tungsten weighting on the sole helps deliver optimal spin and control and the face design is going to give you the launch you need. On the sole you also have a more pronounced camber that offers enhanced turf interaction, ensuring precise, clean contact for better consistency. To fine tune things even more, you have the adjustable hosel for desired ball flight.

“The Paradym Ai Smoke hybrid is designed for players with average to high swing speeds looking to maximise distance and improve dispersion.”

The bunkered Verdict

I’m a big fan of these hybrids, they were so much fun to test. Not only are they forgiving and easy to launch, but the dispersion from mishits is impressive.

I was really impressed by the HL option as it was easy to get in the air and low in spin. The Max was more penetrating in ball flight, and I felt like it came off a bit faster. Acoustically it’s solid, like a fairway wood and firm off the face, it’s a great combo. At address, they tick all the boxes for confidence and if you want to make the game easier, rather than using long irons, these will be a great replacement.

If you want more than just a 3 or 4 in the hybrid, the Max offers a 6-hybrid, while the HL and Fast offer an 8-hybrid, so there’s plenty of loft to be had.
