Not since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979 has a golfer won The Masters at the first go. 

It is, in fact, something that has happened on only two other occasions in 86 editions of the tournament. Once, at the first event in 1934, when everybody was a debutant, and again the following year when Gene Sarazen made his Augusta bow. 

For a multitude of reasons, it is exceptionally and demonstrably difficult to win the Green Jacket on your first go – but could this be the year that changes? 

A total of 16 players are set to make their first appearance in the opening men’s major of the year.
