The Canary Islands are a huge hit with golfers all year rounds and, of course, that makes Tenerife popular.
It’s one of the seven main islands and, like its counterparts, is home to some terrific golf courses.
And with a warm climate all year round, it’s no wonder so many come here in search of some winter sun.
So, we’ve put together a list of the best golf courses in Tenerife that you should add to your itinerary.

Abama Golf
From: €140
This Dave Thomas design opened in 2005 and is one of the most beautiful spots in the Canary Islands, never mind Tenerife. Home to over 300 species of exotic plant life, Abama offers stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean. But beware of the lightning fast greens at this 18-hole venue.

Las Americas
From: €130
In the heart of Tenerife, Las Americas is another stunning golf course. Having hosted several professional tournaments, including the 2012 Spanish Ladies Open, it’s a must-visit, arranged in two loops. Take extra care to avoid the water hazards present on most holes and enjoy the quality surfaces.

Buenavista Golf
From: €69
A Seve Ballesteros design that opened its doors in 2003, Buenavista Golf is laid out on cliff tops overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. While there is a challenge here, the wide fairways are a welcome sight for higher handicaps. Combined, however, this is holiday golf at its very best.

Amarilla Golf
From: €85
With a nine-hole pitch and putt course next door, Amarilla is popular. Very, popular. The 18-hole course, meanwhile, is set in the south of Tenerife and is a tough nut to crack. Brit Donald Steel initially laid out the course and the signature hole the par-3 eighth, which requires you to play from one cliff to another.

Golf Del Sur
From: €87
Located on the southern shores of Tenerife, Golf Del Sur is waiting for visitors right next to the busy Reina Sofia Airport. And since it opened in 1987, the 27-holes have been some of the best in Tenerife. As is the case with every course on the island, the stunning views and challenging holes make for a fantastic experience.
