Tiger Woods – The world No.472

As rumours persist over whether or not he’ll make his much anticipated return to golf at next week’s Masters Tournament – sources say ‘yes’, his agent says ‘no’ – it’s worth taking a couple of minutes to remind ourselves of Tiger Woods‘ incredible tumble down the world rankings in recent years.

This week marks three years since the 14-time major winner most recently ascended to the top of the OWGR, three wins in the first three months of 2013 helping him end Rory McIlroy’s 32-week reign at No.1.

Woods stayed there until May 18, 2014, when he was knocked off the top by Adam Scott. Since then? Well, this graph tells its own story…

As of this morning, Woods is ranked 472nd, having dropped a further five spots in the last week. He has fallen 56 places since the start of the year and s currently just one spot ahead of Darius Van Driel of the Netherlands.

Tiger hasn’t played a competitive round of golf since the Wyndham Championship last August, where he finished in a tie for tenth.

Seems a long time since he wowed us like this, doesn’t it?
