The PGA Championship career money leaders

There are a lot of perks that go with winning the US PGA.

The Wanamaker Trophy, a lifetime pass to play in the championship and multi-year exemptions for each of the other three men’s majors are but three.

Indeed, every year since 2003, the winner of the US PGA has pocketed a seven-figure sum.

But who are the US PGA Championship career money leaders?

Until last year, that man was Tiger Woods. However, Brooks Koepka overtook him courtesy of his victory at Oak Hill.

Three-time winner Koepka has banked a whopping $9,338,764 from 11 career starts in the championship, good enough on its for a place in the top-230 on the PGA Tour career money list and an average of  $848,978 per start.

Impressively, the American has never missed the cut in the PGA, finishing inside the top-10 in more than half of his starts, and with a worst finish of T70 on his debut in 2013.

Woods is Koepka’s closest challenger in the PGA money stakes, with $7,350,862 in winnings from 22 appearances. On its own, that would place him inside the top-300 on the PGA Tour career money list.

Next is two-time champion Phil Mickelson. With his record-breaking victory at Kiawah Island in 2021, the left-hander added $2,160,000 to bring his total earnings from his 30 appearances to $6,500,866.

The highest-placed non-American is Rory McIlroy. The Irishman has played in 15 editions of the championship, making the cut on 14 occasions and winning twice, in 2012 and 2014. He has finished inside the top-10 in each of his last two starts in the tournament.

The highest-earning one-time winner? That would be Jason Day. The Aussie has made 14 US PGA appearances, winning in 2015 and registering five other top-10s.
