When Justin Leonard poured in a 45ft putt on the 17th to all but seal a fantastic final day US comeback, the entire US team, their WAGs and caddies danced about the green. However, Jose Maria Olazabal still had a putt to take the match further. By the time it had cleared minutes later, the Spaniard’s head was all over the place and the putt was missed. The Americans apologised but the damage had been done.
