Unsolicited driving range advice. It can go one of two ways.

It’s sufficient to say, though, it’s probably not worth it if you’re trying to perfect the swing of a professional.

That was the case for Georgia Ball, a female PGA pro and instructor from Liverpool, who found herself in an awkward driving range encounter recently.

The video, which captured a male golfer critiquing Ball’s swing, was posted to TikTok on Wednesday and has already been viewed over 10 million times.

While working on a swing change, the man immediately chipped in with some advice, explaining: “You shouldn’t be doing that,” before offering detailed advice.

Ignoring Ball’s reply, the male golfer repeatedly tells her to “follow through”. At that point, he says: “You know, I’ve been playing golf for 20 years.”

Ball once again explains she is working on a swing change before hitting another shot. “See how much better that was?” the man quips.

In the aftermath, Ball has been widely praised for how she dealt with the ‘mansplaining’.

And now, speaking to Radio 4’s Today programme, Ball has broken her silence.

Describing herself as a “humble” person who wouldn’t pick a fight, she said: “For me to turn around and say ‘I’m a PGA pro’…. it’s not in me to do that.”

Since uploading the video, Ball said the reaction the video has been “crazy”, insisting she has enjoyed reading the variety of opinions in the comments.

Meanwhile, speaking to Good Morning Britain, she admitted getting advice on the range isn’t new.

“I have a lot of conservations,” she said.

“I get a lot of advice and, most of the time, it’s positive. So, in that situation it was awkward, but I’m glad looking back on it now that I can see the funny side to it.”

The coach, who provides daily insight and tips, has over 160,000 followers on TikTok and captioned the video, ‘can you believe he said this?’
