Greg Norman’s son has taken to social media to add further context to his dad’s appearance at The Masters yesterday, taking aim at ‘sociopathic online trolls’ in the process.
Norman, the CEO and commissioner of LIV Golf, was spotted on the grounds of Augusta National on Wednesday afternoon.
It was reported that he was a ticketed patron and he was pictured having conversations with other spectators as well as Masters contenders, including fellow Australian Min Woo Lee.
In a brief interview with the Washington Post, Norman insisted he had been warmly received by fellow patrons, saying: “Walking around here today, there’s not one person who said to me, ‘Why did you do LIV?’

“There’s been hundreds of people, even security guys, stopping me, saying, ‘Hey, what you’re doing is fantastic.’”
Understandably, the two-time major champs’ surprise visit drew a mixed response, particularly on social media.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Greg Norman Jnr addressed the negativity comments, in particular.
Alongside a screenshot of headlines about his father’s appearance, he wrote: “My dad paid for a ticket on the secondary market to attend the Masters as a patron. He was denied one directly after going through the proper professional channels.

“He had to be there anyway to support the LIV players. It was an amazing experience; hundreds of golf fans approached him walking outside the ropes. All positive support of him and LIV. Not one person said anything negative to him.
“And this is exactly the point of me posting this: we have received a lot of hate over the years, but this stems from financially incentivized opposing parties or bottom-of-the-barrel sociopathic online trolls.”
He added: “The vast majority of folks we run into are positive, encouraging, fans of LIV, or simply fans of golf. So, in light of this, here’s to an epic Masters. Four days where we put all the BS behind us, sit back, and watch a LIV player take the green jacket.”
