LIV golf Tulsa preview

LIV Golf returns to the United States at a historic venue this week after back-to-back events in Europe.

The Saudi-backed series staged invitationals at the iconic Valderrama in Spain and the Centurion Club outside London before the Open Championship in July.

And on August 4-6, the LIV train will roll into West Virginia for its first event at The Greenbrier resort.

The Greenbrier is an old long-time PGA Tour venue, that was last used by the American circuit in 2019.  It will now host the tenth event of LIV’s expanded 14-tournament schedule.

There are four more events after this weekend’s 54-hole shootout, with players competing for points ahead of the season-ending team showdown in Miami from October 20-22.

Talor Gooch currently leads the individual standings having won three events on the LIV tour this season, including his impressive triumph at Valderrama.

Gooch is still looking to impress US Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson as he looks for a wildcard pick after missing the cut in the last major of year at Royal Liverpool.

The American’s Range Goats GC team sit third in the team standings, behind Joaquin Niemann’s Torque DC and Dustin Johnson’s leading 4Aces team.
