Jon Rahm’s mega-money move to LIV Golf is expected to open the floodgates.

The Spaniard penned a deal worth around £450 million with the Saudi-backed circuit last week, with his phone being ‘inundated’ with calls to join his team.

He wasn’t the only one with a busy phone, though, as Greg Norman – the league’s CEO – has claimed that ‘eight to 12’ players are keen on discussing a move.

Tony Finau, Adrian Meronk and Jason Day are the latest crop to deny rumours they will be headed for LIV in 2024, so the question begs – who is on their way?

Ryder Cup winner Tyrrell Hatton has committed to the Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour in January, at least thwarting rumours for now.

So, it begs the question. Who will be next to jump from the PGA Tour to Norman’s start-up?

Well, the team at bookies.com have conjured up their take on what PGA Tour golfer is most likely to follow Rahm in making the move.

As the deadline for the proposed ‘framework agreement’ looks unlikely to be met, Norman insists he is standing firm in progressing LIV as a ‘standalone entity’.

He told ESPN: “I’m all about the players being able to earn more money and go where they need to go to earn more money or even stay somewhere to earn more money, and you’re seeing that now.”

With that in mind, and the fact LIV’s 2024 season begins at Mayakoba in February, the seemingly endless pursuit for new players is set to be ramped up.

And according to the bookmaker’s odds, Rahm could be joined by a fellow Green Jacket holder.

Hideki Matsuyama, who won the Masters in 2021, is 7/2 to join LIV Golf, giving him an implied probability of 22.22% to jump ship.

Multiple PGA Tour winner Xander Schauffele rates the next most likely to move, with a 20% chance, while Patrick Cantlay, Cameron Young and Tyrrell Hatton have an 18.18% chance of signing for LIV.

FedEx Cup champion Viktor Hovland has around an 11% chance according to the odds, while the bookmaker certainly doesn’t fancy Rory McIlroy to be persuaded.

The Northern Irishman has acted as a de facto spokesperson for Jay Monahan’s PGA Tour in the fight against LIV, and he has less than a 1% chance of signing for LIV Golf.
