Tempers frayed early on the final day of the 2024 WM Phoenix Open when Zach Johnson was filmed in an angry confrontation with fans at TPC Scottsdale.
The usually mild-mannered Johnson was filmed remonstrating with spectators and can be heard telling them “I’m sick of it” before demanding they “just shut up”.
It’s not clear what prompted the former US Ryder Cup captain to lose his cool.

The behaviour of the huge galleries has, not for the first time, drawn almost as much attention as the golf this week.
On Saturday evening, BMW PGA champion Byeong Hun An took to social media to brand the event a “shitshow”, insisting that it was “totally out of control on every hole”.
“Played here multiple times over the years and it was fine until today,” added An.
Tournament officials were forced to shut spectator gates early on Saturday after being overwhelmed by the turnout for the event’s third round.

Alcohol sales were also temporarily halted as boozed-up fans laid siege to the $8.8million tourney.
One spectator was filmed performing a sand angel in a greenside bunker at the par-3 16th earlier today, with another fan hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries after falling from the grandstands surrounding the same hole during Friday’s second round.
Other spectators were filmed apparently urinating on a floor in the tented village and fighting with one another close to one of the holes.
Not everybody agreed that the spectators were out of hand, Jordan Spieth described them as “awesome” at the conclusion of play on Saturday.
“It was really cool actually to see that many people on the front nine,” said the three-time major champ.
“You typically just see them on the back nine here and then occasionally on nine and a couple other spots. They were fantastic.”
