Last week, Sergio Garcia won his first PGA Tour title for four years. This week, TaylorMade specially customised his irons with a gold-plated badge to celebrate the victory.
Garcia has been playing TaylorMade’s PSi Tour irons (3-PW) since late last year and they will now feature the gold-plated PSi badges in the cavity behind the face.
What’s more, TaylorMade is offering you the chance to ‘earn’ the special badges for your own irons.
Sergio’s gold-plated PSi badges aren’t given, they’re earned.

Sullivan strikes gold
From gold-plated badges to gold-plated putter heads we move and Andy Sullivan is one of the newest entrants into Ping’s gold putter vault.
One of Ping’s most famous traditions, it began as a way of saying thank you and to reward the player for using a Ping putter en route to victory. With one stored in the vault and one given to the player for every win, you can find more than 2,800 putters in the unique vault in Ping HQ in Arizona.
Famous for his happy manner, Sullivan was delighted to be presented with TWO gold putters for his wins at the Joburg Open and Portugal Masters earlier this year.

MP-5s the difference for Wood at Wentworth
Englishman Chris Wood was a popular winner of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and he can put a big part of his win down to his Mizuno MP-5 irons.
Arguably the best looking irons on the market at the moment, the MP-5s continue a long line of successful Mizuno iron designs.
Check out this collection of throwbacks and see if you recognise some old favourites.

PXG gears up for summer majors
The Scottsdale-based brand has taken the PGA Tour by storm this year and the ‘driving iron’ appears to be the latest creation from Matt Rollins, the brand’s PGA Tour rep.
With the US Open and Open Championship fast approaching, he told PGATour.com he had build James Hahan a 0311 3-iron that was a ¼-inch longer than his normal irons. Hahn can apparently smash it over 250 yards off the tee. Impressive.

New Anser spotted on PGA Tour
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Ping Anser putter and there may well be a new version on the horizon if this sighting is anything to go by. PGATour.com equipment guru Jonathan Wall (@jonathanrwall) found these Ping Anser putters with face weights on the range at the Dean and Deluca Invitational. Absolutely love the dark finish.

And finally…
If you ever forget how far golf equipment has come from the very beginning, just take a look at these from over 100 years ago.
Found in a museum across the pond in the USA, For the Win writer Luke Kerr Dineen posted the throwback pic on Instagram over the weekend.
Imagine trying to hit these.
Golf technology has evolved just a *little* in the past 100 years
