Niall Horan might be best known as a musician – but the One Direction star turned solo artist is making waves in our sport through his company Modest! Golf.
Horan, an eight handicapper, has been “mad into golf”, as he once put it in an interview. “It was hard not to be with Tiger around,” he added. And with fame and fortune came the invites, perhaps most famously when he teed up in the pro-am ahead of the BMW PGA Championship in 2015. When word spread, thousands of teenage girls skipped school to make their way down to Wentworth and see their icon strut his stuff on the lush fairways of the West course.
That passion led to him “spending a lot of time around the tour socially”, as he explained to bunkered in an in-depth interview for the December 2023 issue.

“What I noticed pretty quickly,” he added, “was that a lot of young guys, particularly those just below the DP World Tour, didn’t know where they were going to be playing the next week.”
And so Modest! Golf, a management company alongside business partner Mark McDonnell, was born.
Years later, Horan’s golf venture is still going strong with a number of high-profile clients, including Tyrrell Hatton and Leona Maguire.
But you’re here to see what gear the Northern Irishman has in his bag. At the start of 2024, Horan was out at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, where he was fitted for the new Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke range, the newest line from the equipment giants.
Horan explained that he was a huge fan of the previous range, the Paradym line, but once he started hitting the Paradym Ai Smoke range, he was sold on it.
In another video, this time posted by Callaway on YouTube, Horan was fitted into the brand’s Apex Ai200 irons. The former 1D star commented that they’re a little more compact than the Paradym irons which he used to use. And he’s right! These are aimed at golfers who want a bit of extra forgiveness, without sacrificing any control on the course.
