LIV Golf appears to have completed the second major signing of its post-season with the capture of Adrian Meronk.

The Times and Sports Illustrated are both reporting that the Pole is on the brink of aligning with the Saudi-funded circuit, just over a month after he appeared to pledge his loyalty to the DP World Tour and PGA Tour on social media.

The world No.39 is expected to join Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC alongside Richard Bland and Kalle Samooja in all-European line-up.

Meronk, 31, was voted the DP World Tour ‘Player of the Year’ by his fellow players just two weeks ago, receiving the Seve Ballesteros Award after finishing ahead of Rory McIlroy, Nicolai Hojgaard and Viktor Hovland in the polling.

He also, famously, was overlooked for one of Luke Donald’s six captains’ picks for last September’s Ryder Cup, a decision that he admitted had been “hard to swallow”.

In July 2022, Meronk became the first Pole to win on the DP World Tour when he staged a late salvo to win the Irish Open. He followed that up months later with victory in the ISPS Handa Australian Open.

He strengthened his Ryder Cup hopes with a win in the Italian Open last May, staged at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome, before bagging the Andalucia Masters in October.

He makes the move to LIV Golf knowing that his place in the opening men’s major of the season is already assured.

By virtue of being ranked inside the top-50 of the Official World Golf Ranking at the end of 2023, Meronk can look forward to making a second Masters appearance in April.
