The team at bunkered has been recognised for a superb year by being shortlisted for five PPA Scotland awards.

Bryce Ritchie is in the running for ‘Editor of the Year’, with Michael McEwan amongst the contenders for ‘Columnist of the Year’ and ‘Writer of the Year’.

The brand’s flagship print title is one of two publications shortlisted for ‘Consumer Title of the Year’, whilst there’s a nod in the ‘Podcast of the Year’ category, too.

bunkered accounts for five of the six nominations earned by parent company DC Thomson.

The PPA Scotland Awards, widely acclaimed as the ‘Oscars of the Scottish publishing industry’, are designed to celebrate the fantastic specialist media businesses and organisations that “support the thriving publishing sector in Scotland”.

The recognition comes at the end of another milestone year for bunkered, which has seen the magazine increase in frequency from eight issues per year to ten and expand into selling across the UK for the first time.

The editorial department has benefited from key new appointments, whilst the brand has significantly expanded its digital footprint courtesy of a huge website re-platforming project, editorial strategy overhaul, and rapid social media growth.

Remarking upon the PPA Scotland Award nominations, bunkered editor Bryce Ritchie said: “I’m delighted to see the hard work from our growing team being recognised by the magazine sector in Scotland. It has been a year significant growth and development for our brand, and I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved.

“We have a hugely talented team at bunkered, but I am very aware the magazine industry in Scotland is filled with talent so, like everyone else, we’ll wait and see how the night plays out.

“I’d like to congratulate our fellow nominees and wish them the best of luck on the night.

The 2023 PPA Scotland Awards take place on November 29 at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow.
