Emily Pedersen has lit up the Solheim Cup with just the second hole-in-one in the contest’s history.
It was a chastening morning for Suzann Pettersen’s European team, who were whitewashed 4-0 in the foursomes in southern Spain.
But Pedersen, who was thrashed 5&4 alongside Charley Hull by Ally Ewing and Cheyenne Knight in the morning session, sparked wild celebrations with the epic ace at Finca Cortesin.

Pedersen, playing with debutant Maja Stark, watched her two American rivals Jennifer Kupcho and Allisen Corpuz give themselves good birdie opportunities in close on 12.
But she then saw her own effort trickle down the back-left bank all the way into the bottom of the cup.
This was just the second hole-in-one in the Solheim Cup’s 33-year history after Anna Nordqvist’s ace back in 2013.
Sweden’s Nordqvist, also competing this week at Finca Cortesin, made the first ever hole-in-one in the Saturday foursomes during Europe’s 18-10 victory in Colorado.
Pedersen was reignited after she was steamrolled with playing partner Hull in a nightmare start to the morning.
The pairing were out at last in foursomes, but were an estimated eight-over-par through the front nine in an utterly one-sided match that finished first.
Hull has been struggling with a neck injury and was left out of the afternoon session, but captain Pettersen allayed concerns over the six-time Solheim stalwart’s participation on Saturday.
“Charley is OK,” Pettersen said. “She probably didn’t feel the best on the front nine and the more she played she felt better, so she’ll be fine.”
