LIV Golf has locked in its roster for the 2024 season on the eve of the season-opener in Mexico.

For now, fervent speculation surrounding more arrivals to the Saudi-funded circuit from the PGA Tour can be put to rest.

Jon Rahm was the seismic signing of LIV’s off-season, while his Ryder Cup teammate Tyrrell Hatton’s defection also raised eyebrows as he joined the Spaniard’s new Legion XIII team.

World No. 42 Adrian Meronk was confirmed on Wednesday as a Cleeks GC signing alongside the inaugural LIV Promotions champion Kalle Samooja, while Australian Lucas Herbert has joined his countryman Cam Smith at Ripper GC.

And in a significant change to its format for the 2024, LIV has added two wild cards to increase its field size to 54 players, following the addition of Rahm’s 13th four-man team.

Greg Norman’s enterprise has added two “wild card” spots ahead of the first tournament at Mayakoba starting on Friday.

Laurie Canter, who was a reserve for Majesticks GC in 2023, will take one of the wild cards for the first event after narrowly missing out on an automatic season-long place in the Promotions tournament.

But in an interesting development, LIV have confirmed that the American veteran Hudson Swafford has been afforded a wild card for the entire 14-event season.

Swafford, 36, will compete as an individual throughout the 2024 campaign, meaning he will not benefit from the team prize money available at each event.

But there is no doubt that the three-time PGA Tour winner has been handed one of the most lucrative tickets in golf, having missed almost all of last season following hip surgery.

Swafford failed to finish inside the top 25 in seven individual starts during LIV’s inaugural season in 2022, but still earned over $1.2million in prize money.
