Rory McIlroy has been targeted by an unusual dig this week after he was involved in a car park bust-up at the Ryder Cup.

That’s because LIV golfer Pat Perez’s wife Ashley, shared on Instagram that she isn’t McIlroy’s biggest fan.

Commenting on a post last week, Ashley Perez said: “I can’t possibly be the only one that would absolutely love to watch Rory get punched in the face.

“I mean that in the nicest way possible… kinda.”

It comes after McIlroy was filmed in a furious altercation which ignited after things got out of hand on day two of the Ryder Cup.

• Fleetwood: It would be a dream to captain home Ryder Cup

• Meronk: It was ‘hard to watch’ the Ryder Cup

After a feisty finish to his fourballs match with Patrick Cantlay and the American’s caddie Joe La Cava, McIlroy was caught in the heated battle.

While Perez gave her thoughts on the incident, it’s not the first time she has displayed her outspoken personality.

After Tiger Woods shared an update on his injury following a car crash in 2021, Perez showed no sympathy towards the 15-time major champion.

Her comment was deleted, but it read: “Literally why driving under the influence is ILLEGAL. I don’t feel bad for him. Thank God he didn’t kill anyone. See ya.”

• 36 random thoughts and takeaways from the 2023 Ryder Cup

In September last year, Pat’s wife also hit out at Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, and their significant others.

She said the couple’s trip to Wine Country in Napa looked boring.

Pat, who is no stranger to controversy himself, is a strong character on the course and joined LIV Golf in 2022.

It was his wife who broke the news on Instagram, as the PGA Tour winner signed for a reported $10 million.

In a bizarre turn of events, she posted: “Breaking news!! Pat Perez signs with LIV Golf.”

The 47-year-old is yet to win on the Saudi-backed circuit, with his best finish being a tie for sixth place at LIV Golf London in July.
