PGA Tour makes radical changes to 2024 schedule 

The PGA Tour has made a host of significant changes to its 2024 schedule, including twelve designated events and a return to a full calendar-year season.

First reported by Golfweek, there will be 39 regular season events and eight more tournaments in the new Fall Playoff Series, where players will be looking to secure their playing rights.

Out of the dozen designated events, which will feature the newly-elevated AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, only four are set to have a 36-hole cut.

The US circuit announced the plan to host no-cut events back in March and the majority of the top events with enhanced purses will now include limited fields without cuts.

The Players Championship, the flagship event on the PGA Tour, is set to keep its halfway cut and a full field. The Memorial Tournament will also keep a 36-hole cut.

Crucially, Golfweek notes that, under pressure from its playing membership, the PGA Tour will reverse its decision to make designated events mandatory in 2024.

Meanwhile, The Memorial has moved dates as part of a raft of changes as the Tour attempts to cluster elevated events together, while leaving space in the schedule for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Memorial, hosted by Jack Nicklaus, has been pushed forward a week and will now be held just before the US Open at Pinehurst.

The full and confirmed PGA Tour schedule is set to be announced in the coming days.
