A popular Scottish golf centre with an award-winning course is now up for sale.

Strathmore Golf Centre at Alyth in Perthshire has been family-owned for almost 20 years, but has now been brought to market.

One of the most visited golfing destinations in the area, Strathmore extends over 150 acres, comprising of the 18-hole Rannaleroch course, a nine-hole par-3 Leitfie Links course and practice facilities including a floodlit driving range.

The much-loved Rannaleroch layout was voted ‘Scotland’s Best Golf Course in the £75 and Under Category’ at the 2023 STGA Awards.

Strathmore, located near Blairgowie, is back on the market for offers over £1.5million after a previous successful bidder was unable to sell their assets to facilitate the deal.

As reported by The Herald, the golf centre is being advertised as having “multiple income stream potential”, with a “highly regarded restaurant” already in use and planning permission for a hotel and holiday homes on site.

The venue’s director of operations David Norman said:  “Any prospective buyer coming to view the club – and we’re pretty sure they’ll be a lover of the game – will see everything fully operational and in full swing – pardon the pun.

“We are well established and enjoy an enviable reputation, consistently achieving a level of excellence that keeps members, visitors, PGA professionals, and our entire customer base, very happy.

“Seventeen years ago we were extremely lucky – the chance to own a place like this doesn’t come every day. Now it’s time to retire and hand Strathmore over for its next phase of development.”

On Strathmore’s potential, Norman added: “A new owner may wish to consider the development of holiday lodges and leisure facilities on the site, with the centre in the past having obtained planning permission for a hotel, self-catering holiday lodge park, and leisure facilities.”

“Current indications are that permission for this business diversification would be granted again.

“We feel that this scope for further income and development is certainly worth pointing out to any interested buyers who may, or may not, already own golf related businesses, or indeed leisure businesses.”
