Speculation over Rickie Fowler’s future on the PGA Tour reached boiling point this week.

The 35-year-old was making his first start of 2024 at The Sentry, but with major changes to his apparel.

Longtime sponsors Farmers Insurance and Rocket Mortgage were missing from his hat and shirt during the season opener at Kapalua, as rumours swirled over a move to LIV Golf.

But Fowler, a six-time PGA Tour winner, has assured fans of where he will play his golf.

In an exclusive interview with Golfweek, the American admitted that he is going nowhere.

Fowler insisted that “seeing how much work the guys on the (PGA Tour policy) board” do, especially Patrick Cantlay, has eased his mind.

He said: “These guys are pouring a lot of time and effort into it. I was on the PAC last year but have tried to stay out of the way because the guys that are in there, I trust.

“With Jordan (Spieth), Cantlay, Tiger (Woods) and the other guys, I’ve just trusted that we’re all going to end up in a good spot and I have zero plans to go anywhere.”

Fowler was the latest of a growing list of players to be linked with the Saudi-backed circuit.

Cantlay, Tony Finau and Ludvig Aberg have reiterated their loyalty to the PGA Tour since Jon Rahm jumped ship last month.

And Fowler understands it comes down to the “day and age we live in”, while looking ahead to a positive year for Jay Monahan’s circuit.

“There’s only so much you can believe or trust because anything can be put out there

“I’m real excited for what’s coming for me and for the tour and all the time and effort these guys have been putting into it.”

Fowler entered the new season without a Farmers Insurance contract, as the firm did not renew its previous deal.

However, Fowler, who won last year’s Rocket Mortgage Classic, is in negotiations to renew his deal with the tournament sponsor.

The win was his first in four years, while he finished 56th of 59 players at The Sentry.
