Ryder Cup: Who is the host of the Opening Ceremony? 

The Ryder Cup is nearly here – but who will present the traditional Ryder Cup Opening Ceremony?

As is tradition with the biennial showdown between Team Europe and Team USA, an Opening Ceremony will take place a day before the contest at the Marco Simone Golf Club.

Captains Luke Donald and Zach Johnson will both introduce their teams to the stage, shortly before the competition begins with the Friday morning foursomes on September 29.

The hour-long ceremony will then conclude with the unveiling of the pairings for the opening session on Friday.

And this year’s Ryder Cup Opening Ceremony will be hosted by popular Italian TV presenter and model Melissa Satta.

Satta is a well-known presenter on Sky Sports Italy and takes over from David Ginola, the legendary ex-footballer who hosted the Opening Ceremony at Le Paris National back in 2018.

The 37-year-old has both Italian and American citizenship and will front the curtain-raiser before the 44th edition of golf’s biggest team rivalry.

“I think it is going to be amazing to host the Ryder Cup Opening Ceremony,” Satta said after being lined up for the ceremony. “When I had the call, I couldn’t believe it was actually going to be me.

“To have people from all over Europe and America coming to Rome is going to be very special, all there having fun enjoying sport together.

“Rome is one of the best cities in the world, so everyone is going to enjoy the best food, the best culture and the best weather in September. I think it is going to be unbelievable.”

As well as a TV presenter, Melissa Satta is also a swimsuit model who has a huge social media presence with over 4.8million followers on Instagram.

She hosts the talent show Missione Beauty on Italian television and presents Goal Deejay, a show combining her love of music and football.

Satta is in a relationship with Italian tennis star Matteo Berrettini. She was previously married to former Tottenham, AC Milan and Barcelona footballer Kevin-Prince Boateng.

The 2023 Ryder Cup will take place from September 29 – October 1 at the Marco Simone Golf Club near Rome.
