While the PGA Tour took a break from ‘Signature Events’ following The Sentry, the Sony Open returned with a strong field.
The Honolulu event marked the second and final week of the Hawaii swing, taking place at Waialae Country Club, with an $8.3 million purse up for grabs.
That was up $400,000 from last year’s event, and it was American Grayson Murray who took home the top prize of over $1.4 million.
The 30-year-old won for the second time on the PGA Tour, as he edged out Byeong Hun An and Keegan Bradley in a one-hole play-off.
One of the biggest stories came from Carl Yuan, though, who needed a bit of help from Jon Rahm to get in the field before almost winning the event.
The Spaniard’s exit to LIV Golf pushed Yuan into the top 125 on the FedEx Cup, meaning he earned his tourcard for the season, and finished just one shot back of the play-off trio.
For his trouble, he cashed in a cheque for almost $400,000. Here’s the full prize money payout for the 2024 Sony Open…
