Who are Zach Johnson’s vice-captains?

Zach Johnson will have plenty of know-how in the Team USA locker room to turn to as he makes the decisions that could determine the fate of the 2023 Ryder Cup.

Johnson named Stewart Cink as the fifth and final vice-captain to finalise his background team before the contest.

The 2009 Open champion Cink joins Steve Stricker, Davis Love III, Jim Furyk and Fred Couples as the assistants that Johnson can turn to for the Ryder Cup.

Stricker and Love III are both ex-Ryder Cup winning captains, while Furyk lead the US team in their defeat to the Europeans in Paris back in 2018.

Couples, meanwhile, has previously led the US Presidents Cup team to three victories and will be vice-captain in thew Ryder Cup for the third time.

Johnson is delighted with his line up of assistants for Rome, with tons of experience of matchplay battles across his leadership group.

“Stewart is someone I can trust will give me honest and constructive feedback as we head into the final stages of preparing for the Ryder Cup,”  Johnson said after naming Cink as his last vice-captain.

“And as everyone saw at The Open Championship this year, he’s still competing at a high level on the golf course. He will play a critical role in our success as we head to Italy.”

The 2023 Ryder Cup takes place at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club from September 29-October 1.
