The 2025 Ryder Cup will be played on the fearsome Black Course at Bethpage in New York.

After Europe romped to victory in Rome in 2023, Team USA will have their sights set on reclaiming the title on home soil.

The Europeans have dominated the contest in recent years, winning eight of the last 11 matches but the Americans have triumphed in the events last two Stateside visits.

Luke Donald will return the fray as Team Europe captain again, becoming the first repeat Ryder Cup captain since Bernard Gallacher in 1995.

A decision on the US Ryder Cup captain has, as of May 2024, still to be made.

So, where will the 2025 Ryder Cup be held?

The 2025 Ryder Cup venue

Golf’s most famous biennial dust-up will head to New York, as Bethpage Black plays host to the 45th edition of the match.

The monster layout, renowned for its difficulty, has staged three major championships since 2000.

Brooks Koepka lifted the Wanamaker Trophy there following his triumph in the 2019 PGA Championship, while the 2002 and 2009 editions of the US Open were also played there.

It reads: “WARNING: The Black Course Is An Extremely Difficult Course Which We Recommend Only For Highly Skilled Golfers”.

Despite the challenge it poses, the Bethpage Black Course is a public setup at Bethpage State Park on Long Island, New York.

Designed by Joseph H. Burbeck, the 2025 Ryder Cup venue is widely regarded as the most difficult of Bethpage’s five courses.

In September 2020, Golf Advisor ranked Bethpage Black No.1 on a list of the top-50 toughest golf courses in the United States.

This particular edition of the Ryder Cup was originally supposed to be played in 2024 but, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was pushed back to 2025.

It will be the second time Europe and the United States have contested the Ryder Cup in New York. Oak Hill Country Club hosted the 1995 edition of the tournament.

Europe edged the Americans that year by a single point, and that has been a recurring theme since the turn of the millennium.

The United States has won just three of the last ten stagings, although they did so in 2021, the last time the Ryder Cup was held in America.
