We all love a Texas Scramble, but the upcoming event at Woodlands Glencoe is something rather different.

On May 6, the greenkeepers will make the course as difficult as possible in an effort to turn what is usually a low scoring format into a near-impossible test.

The event, which is only £10 a person, or free for guests of the Woodlands Glencoe luxury lodges, takes place over the award-winning course which used to be known as Dragon’s Tooth, in Ballachulish.

“The Greenkeeper’s Revenge is a day that all golfers undeniably love to hate… and hate to love,” said Craig Russell, head greenkeeper at the west-coast course.

“My team and I will do whatever it takes to make hitting par as difficult as possible – placing time-wasting tricks, unwanted obstacles and plenty of head-scratching conundrums in their way.

“We’ll be following the Texas scramble format of play with four players making up each team. But don’t worry, you can still sign-up as an individual player and our staff will assign you to a team.

“The aim of the day is ultimately to have good fun and a few laughs with friends and family – and what better way to show that than by watching a bunch of frustrated golfers, fumbling through their clubs as they go up against some fairly unusual and unpredictable obstacles?”

The course is an award winning nine hole layout in the north of Scotland, situated beside some stunning accommodation options. On the day, you’ll also be able to sample some local catering from the local Hebridean Larder pizza fan.
