On December 27-28 this year, the Argentario Golf Club will host the Christmas Pro Am, during which professional and amateur golfers from all over Italy and Europe will compete on the Tuscan golf course. The format is 36-hole strokeplay and the prize money is of €8,000.
More than 120 players participated in last year’s edition, which involves not only golf but also a gourmet and spa experience. In fact, players can enjoy the Tuscan cuisine offered at the Dama Dama Restaurant and indulge in wellness treatments and heated pools at Espace Wellness Center, both located in the adjoining Argentario Golf Resort & Spa.
The pro am registration costs €200. But players who wish to stay in the luxury resort can get a special stay-and-play package that includes the pro am fee, daily Tuscan buffet breakfast and access to the wellness center, starting from €360 per person for two nights in a design room (double occupancy). The golf pro can stay free of charge if his or her team stays in the Argentario Resort.
The Argentario Golf Club is an eco-friendly, 18-hole golf course in southern Tuscany, located between Florence and Rome. It was designed by Italian pro Baldovino Dassù and architect David Mezzacane, and offers panoramic views of the Orbetello Lagoon and surrounding Mediterranean greenery. The course has its own microclimate, meaning golf is possible all year round.
Playing the course requires both power and precision with the reward of exceptionally beautiful greens awaiting you at the end of each hole. Jose Maria Olazabal and Manassero have been known to practice here, and have heaped praise on its quality. Just last year, a notable European golf website listed Argentario Golf Club inside the top ten of Europe’s Most Popular Golf Courses 2012, after asking participants in the survey to list their favourite three layouts.
The Argentario Golf Academy is managed by Emanuele Canonica, winner of the 2005 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, and features state-of-the-art Trackman technology for golfers to improve their swing.
