The bump and run is a very important shot to have, especially when the ground gets wet and you need to get the ball first.

This drill is great, as it’s easy to set-up, and gives you immediate feedback on what you’re doing.

The idea is that you have the alignment stick running down the shaft of the club. That’s going to keep your hands ahead of the ball, keeping it nice and low.

Chip It Closer Winter Drill

If you try and use your wrists, with the stick there, it’s going to hit you in your left ribcage. If you push your hands through and towards the target, which is what you want, you’ll get some separation between the stick and your body. If you do this one wrong, you’re going to know about it as it feels uncomfortable. You get immediate feedback.
