When it comes to golf shoes, almost everyone falls into one of two camps. Some like traditional golf shoes, while others prefer golf shoes that are more like trainers. With the Puma Avant line, we get both sophistication and modern design.

If you’re someone who has worn Puma shoes in the past, there’s a good chance that you’ve bought them to own a pair of golf shoes that look like trainers you might wear away from the golf course.

However, with the Avant shoes, a brand-new line for Puma for 2024, that’s no longer the case. These golf shoes are designed to offer the ultimate combination of classic styling and modern performance, while honouring the tradition of the game.

The shoe comes in two models, with wingtip and saddle designs available. Both of these are completely removed from anything Puma has produced before and are aimed at the sophisticated yet modern golfer.

As you can see, on the sole of these shoes is the classic ‘GOLF’ branding, which is typical of any Puma golf shoe. That just goes to show that although these are aimed at players who value style on the course, they still have that modern touch that makes Puma so appealing.

“The saddle and wingtip styles were a lot of fun to design,” said Andrew Lawson, Senior PLM, Golf Footwear at Puma Golf.

But what was it that encouraged Puma to make their first pair of traditional golf shoes?

“We want to serve the golfer; we have been listening and are excited to deliver this trend to our golf consumer,” Lawson continued.

“We are entering the classics space. A traditional style is a first for us and we are super thrilled to be part of the action.”

While you might think that their first attempt at a classic shoe would be a struggle for Puma, as we can see, they’ve nailed it and cut no corners in the process.

Most notably, all Avant shoes are built with a Premium Full Grain Leather Upper with one-year waterproof protection, lending an ultra-premium look and feel in all conditions.

The Avant style also features full-length ProFoam EVA Midsoles, providing exceptional cushioning and all-day comfort. Radial Traction Technology for spikeless performance utilises strategically placed ridges and lugs to grip any surface players might encounter.

So, while this is a new direction for Puma, these shoes don’t compromise on the quality that we would expect from one of the top golf shoe brands.
