You might not have considered what finish to get on your set of wedges, but Cobra’s latest release looks the part, and will even help you save shots around the course. But why should you consider getting a raw finish on your new wedges?

The Snakebite line is a long-established brand from Cobra and their latest addition to it will only enhance your choices. That addition is the Snakebite Raw wedge and it’s a potential game changer for you.

Before we get into why a raw finish could be for you, let’s remind ourselves of what made the Snakebite line so popular in the first place.

Firstly, the grooves. These are probably the most important part of any wedge, and the CNC Milled Snakebite grooves feature 11% deeper and 40% sharper edges than in previous generations. That’s going to help you generate as much spin as possible around the greens.

As well as that, the notch on the sole of the Cobra Snakebite wedges helps to aid versatility, making any shot around the greens possible. Whether that’s a bunker shot from a tight lie or a flop shot from thick rough, they’re all doable.

We tested these wedges extensively and found that from any lie, they performed very well and gave us great control. That was no surprise and now, with the addition of the option of a Raw finish, there’s something that will suit every player.

Why should you consider a Raw finish on your wedges?

Although it might look like this is purely for aesthetic reasons, the Raw finish on the new Snakebite wedges do have performance benefits, too.

The Trusty Rusty finish, which is a classic design from Cobra, provides more consistent spin on strikes across the face, perfect for when you really need to control the flight on a pitch shot.

As well as that, the enhanced wet weather capabilities you get from the Snakebite Raw wedges will help them to perform well in any conditions. That’s essential, especially if you’re playing from wet rough, which can sometimes dramatically reduce the spin you impart on the ball.

These wedges also produce less glare than a traditional wedge finish, so if you’re playing in bright conditions, you’re not going to be put off by the sun reflecting into your face from your wedge. It might not seem like an important factor, but when you’ve experienced it, you’ll know how difficult and off-putting it can be.

This unplated wedge is designed to rust over time, so don’t be concerned when that starts to happen sooner than you might expect. This won’t negatively impact the performance of the wedge and you’ll look the part when you’re getting up and down.
