The TaylorMade P790 irons have had an upgrade for 2023 – and once again they are pushing the barriers of golf club design.

A range that suits golfers of all abilities, TaylorMade have had huge success with the P790 irons over the years. But the popular brand has gone a step further with the latest iteration to make them even better than before.

• Reviewed! Here’s what our expert thinks of TaylorMade’s new P790 irons

The irons redefine precision mass optimisation, incorporating cutting-edge technology such as tungsten weighting and the revolutionary SpeedFoam Air. This AI-optimised construction results in a combination of distance, forgiveness, and accuracy to deliver optimal performance.

“It represents the seamless harmony of art and engineering,” Matt Bovee, TaylorMade’s director of product creation across their iron models, said. “Its appeal transcends the visually captivating design, as it houses a high-performance marvel within. A perfect synthesis of external elegance and internal power.”

TaylorMade have introduced what they call FLTD CG in this latest range of P790 irons – an internal design that strategically positions the centre of gravity at its lowest point in the long irons, and progressively shifting it higher throughout the set.

This ensures easier launch and enhanced forgiveness in the long irons, while the shorter, more lofted irons are meticulously engineered to optimise ball flight and spin control.

The P790 irons have undergone a new AI-driven mass optimisation process. Every gram of weight has been placed with precision, ensuring the best possible performance for each individual iron.

The sound-stabilizing bar, positioned above the tungsten weight framework in the three- to seven-irons, enhances feel and performance by regulating unsupported space between the internal structure and the club’s top line.

This intelligent design minimises unwanted vibrations at impact, delivering a premium forged feel with an optimized CG placement.

Staying true to the P790s clean and minimalistic aesthetics, the latest model boasts a sophisticated tour satin scratch, bisecting the pearl satin chrome finish.

The P790 can also seamlessly blend in with the P770 irons in a combo set, creating a cohesive and stylish look throughout any golfer’s bag.

The P790 irons retain TaylorMade’s groundbreaking SpeedFoam Air technology, now 69 percent less dense than the original, ensuring a hollow body construction that maintains a premium feel.

The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket, a hallmark of TaylorMade designs, collaborates with unique internal constructions to expand the sweet spot and preserve ball speeds on low face strikes.

Precision craftsmanship with machined grooves is consistent across the P Series lineup, offering unparalleled performance.

RRP: £172 per iron
