TaylorMade has had huge success with their Spider putter range, and if thought it couldn’t get much better, it can.

The new TaylorMade Spider Tour series putters have landed, and I’m a big fan. These putters are high MOI designs, which means if you’re not hitting the middle of the face consistently, they’re going to be more forgiving.

I got my hands on the Spider Tour X and the Spider Tour V, and straight away they both looked superb.

The TaylorMade Spider Tour X is the model which has been popularized by Rory McIlroy. Visually, it is brilliant—from the Gun Metal finish and detailing on the pistol grip, to the colouring of the headcover and black gloss KBS shaft.

True Path alignment at the address allows you to line up and start the ball on your desired line. The steel wireframe head shape is compact and very well balanced with the TSS weights on the sole.

So, it feels great in the hands, has a solid acoustic from Pure Roll insert and comes off the putter softly, which I liked.

Another reason I liked it so much is the new HYBRAR Echo Damper that features in the new range.

This has been seen in the Stealth irons and Stealth HD irons. It dampens unwanted vibrations, delivering premium sound and feel on every putt, which it did.

Next up is the TaylorMade Spider Tour V.

Now, this is visually different to the True Path alignment going straight back, while it is the most compact shape out of the Tour Series with a more streamlined look.

Again, it has the Gun Metal finish, HYBRAR Echo Damper, and the Pure Roll insert.

The weighting on the sole is forward toward the toe and heel, close to the face CG location of 27mm from the face. Again, it felt so well balanced and so crisp; it felt like I couldn’t miss the face.

Overall, the TaylorMade Spider Tour series putters are superb.

They are so well balanced and the strike and roll you get off the face is top-class. If you are looking for a high MOI putter, then the new TaylorMade Spider Tour series range is a must-try.
