Titleist TS4 driver – FIRST LOOK!

Titleist Ts4 1

If you are looking for ultra-low spin performance and incredible speed from the tee then the newly announced Titleist TS4 might be the driver you have been searching for.

The new TS4 will be making its debut this week at the Valero Texas Open and has been engineered to be a high-speed ultra low-spin design, challenging the notion that a driver designed for extreme spin reduction can’t produce this level of ball speed.

• Titleist TS drivers: The result of the Titleist Speed Project

The innovations used to drive ball speed in the TS2 and TS3 drivers have been optimised for TS4’s 430cc Speed Chassis, designed to aggressively reduce spin and maximise distance for high-spin players.

Like the TS2 and TS3, the TS4 features an ultra-thin titanium crown that is 20% thinner than the Titleist 917 drivers. The saved weight has been redistributed low and forward for reduced spin, as opposed to low and back in the TS2 and TS3 heads.

The TS4 also boasts the same, thinner, faster face design as its counterparts. The TS drivers house the fastest face Titleist has ever made, with a refined Radial VFT (variable face thickness) that reduces weight, delivers faster ball speeds and increases forgiveness.

Every TS driver face undergoes a 100% CT inspection to ensure that speed is at the maximum allowable limit.

The aerodynamic and smaller design of the TS4, a 430cc classic shape, reduces drag, allowing you to swing faster for increased clubhead speed and more distance.

That streamlined shape combines with the low and forward CG placement to really help bring those spin rates tumbling down.

The CG position is 5mm further forward when compared with the TS2, highlighted by the placement of the SureFit Flat Weight for that incredibly low spinning, piercing ball flight.

Titleist’s patented SureFit Hosel, meanwhile, featuring 16 independent loft and lie settings, allows for additional ball flight optimisation through precision fitting.

“TS drivers have exceeded all our expectations both on tour and with golfers around the world. When it comes to driver performance, TS has shown that it’s no longer a one or two-horse race,” said Josh Talge, Vice President of Marketing, Titleist Golf Clubs.

• How the Titleist TS drivers were built

He added: “While we know most golfers find their best fit in a TS2 or TS3 driver, there is a percentage of players out there with distinct performance needs, such as aggressive spin reduction."

"TS4 is the ultra low-spin that still produces exceptional ball speed. If you want to hit it longer but are having trouble controlling spin off the tee, TS4 was made for you.”
