Wilson Staff update clubs for centenary

2014 01 Fg Tour 100 Hero

Wilson Staff is marking its centenary in style by releasing modern versions of two of their most iconic golf clubs – Dynapower irons and the 8802 putter.

Over the past 100 years, the Chicago-based brand has helped to deliver 61 major titles, which is an impressive stat in itself.

Added to the Wilson Staff D-100 family of game improvement clubs and the new Wilson Staff C-100 irons for those of you looking to consistently shape your shots, the Wilson Staff FG Tour 100 forged irons are a beautiful set of clubs.
"There is just too much history to pass through our centenary year without celebrating it,” - Tim Clarke, general manager of Wilson Golf.

Reflecting the evolution of bladed iron with their classic, timeless design, they have a modern three-piece button-back head that really does resemble the style of the 1971 Dynapower blades.

These bladed irons are aimed at the better player and they feature a Fluid Feel bore-through insert that works with the milled face to give extremely high levels of consistency and feel.

As well as the irons, the 8802 putter has been updated for the brand’s centenary. The brand says it continues the heritage of the original Wilson Staff milled putter that was used by multiple major champions in the past.

It has the same elegant, heel-shafted head shape as the past model, but the modernised version has been milled from 304 stainless steel to give the right combination of precision and feel. The head weight has been adjusted to 335g to match modern-day green speeds and ball construction.

Wilson Staff wanted to mark anniversary

“Our main focus this year lies in our new product launches, but there is just too much history to pass through our centenary year without celebrating it,” said Tim Clarke, general manager of Wilson Golf.

“Clubs like the FG Tour 100 blades and 8802 putters will revive a lot of memories, but also show the modern golfer why Wilson Staff has remained such a strong brand in golf for so long.”
