Tom McKibbin picked up his first win on the DP World Tour at the weekend in unbelievable fashion.

The 20-year-old from Northern Ireland picked up his first win in style at the Porsche European Open after playing the shot of the tournament on the final hole.

Leading by one over home favourites Marcel Siem and Max Kieffer and France’s Julien Guerrier, McKibbin, who comes from the same club as Rory McIlroy, played his second shot from 203 yards with a tree blocking his path to the green.

McKibbin played a superb rolling draw around the tree which would come to rest just seven feet from the hole. He would two-putt for birdie, good enough for the win.

His numbers did not disappoint this week. He drove the ball incredibly well on the tight fairways at Green Eagle Golf Course in Hamburg with 67% of fairways hit. Especially with distance he hits it, currently 10th on the DP World Tour, averaging 320 yards with his Stealth Plus driver, he was in great control from the tee.

The Northern Irishman’s TaylorMade P7MB irons were also incredibly consistent with 71% of greens in regulation, a stat which he ranks 15th in for the season.

His putting display through the whole tournament was exceptional, averaging 29 putts per round and 4.25 birdies per day.

One thing he did very well was scrambling, getting up and down when he needed to. He got up and down 67% of the time, with his TaylorMade MG3 and SM9 Vokey wedges performing well.
