4. Christy O’Connor Jnr/Snr

Christy O’Connor Snr’s name has become synonymous with the Ryder Cup, featuring in ten straight matches from 1955 to 1973 – second only to Sir Nick Faldo’s 11 appearances. Nephew O’Connor Jnr (above) played in the 1975 and 1989 Ryder Cups and is famed for the iron shot on the 18th at The Belfry which beat Fred Couples to retain the Ryder Cup.
